Terms of Use

1. The Hong Kong Metropolitan University Library (“HKMU Library”) grants a one-time, non-exclusive use authorization. Any different or subsequent use requires a new application.
2. Copies of archival materials may only be published with the prior permission of the University Librarian or his/her nominee of the HKMU Library. The HKMU Library retains sole and absolute discretion to impose restrictions on the publication or refuse publication requests based on the following (non-exhaustive) criteria (without giving reasons):
   1. Purpose of reproduction;
   2. Privacy or confidentiality concerns;
   3. Copyright law and any other applicable laws; and
   4. Donor-imposed limitations.
3. The applicant must appropriately acknowledge the source in the publication as the “Hong Kong Metropolitan University Library”.
4. The undersigned assumes full responsibility for the publication of the requested materials. The undersigned acknowledges that:
   1. Hong Kong Metropolitan University (“HKMU”) may or may not be the copyright holder of the archival holdings;
   2. he/she shall comply with all copyright laws and any applicable laws and shall be solely liable for any infringement of intellectual property rights arising from or in connection with the publication of the requested materials;
   3. the approval of this application shall not be interpreted as HKMU authorizing any act of infringement; and
   4. HKMU shall not be liable for any claims, damages, penalties, losses or any expenses arising from or in connection with the publication of the requested materials.
5. Upon request by the HKMU Library, the applicant shall donate a copy of the publication containing the used materials to the HKMU Library.
6. The undersigned undertakes and agrees to fully and unconditionally indemnify and hold HKMU harmless against any claims, damages, penalties, losses or any expenses incurred as a result of or in connection with:
   1. any breach of these terms; or
   2. any infringement or alleged infringement of intellectual property rights arising from or in connection with the publication of the requested materials.

You have the right to make access to personal data held on you and to make correction of such data heldby the University. In accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, the University has the right tocharge a reasonable fee for processing any data access request.
